So, why am I all in for today’s more contemporary concierge care and membership-driven personal care models (PCMs)? Because my doctor’s words are like heavyweights in a boxing ring—five little words could flip my life upside down!
I love this quote from one of my favorite books and I think it’s a great place to start. In the book, Know What You’re FOR, the author writes “Businesses have to understand the greatest source of their credibility isn’t the brand – it’s the customers of the brand.”
You are the brand! Not a term that only a few insiders know and not a price point that you think appeals to everyone.
For example, ARS Technica in 2007 wrote a great article about ‘The Secrets to Apple’s Success in marketing to teenagers’. In the article the writer, Justin Berka notes …
“The first reason that teenagers love Apple is that Apple makes products that are aligned with the needs of teenagers. The iPod and the iPhone are two great examples of products that do things (music and mobile communication) that younger people are into. The fact that Apple brands its products as being creative and individualistic also helps here. Next up, there's the design of Apple products. Everyone loves a sleek, shiny, well-designed design, and that goes doubly for younger consumers.”
He continues “Apple's advertising and marketing strategies are also legendary. Ads for Apple products are usually minimalistic and are fairly general in audience. They're always creative, though, furthering Apple's branding of products as offering freedom to create. And once there's a buzz surrounding something, Apple apparently reduces their advertising efforts, letting word-of-mouth and other press do the advertising for them (the former method being particularly effective with teenagers).”Source/Credit: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2007/08/the-secrets-to-apples-success-in-marketing-to-teenagers/
Interesting stuff right?! Now, I know, I know, I've got a pretty sunny disposition when it comes to today’s more contemporary concierge care and membership-driven personal care models (PCMs) and outlook on how all subscription-based healthcare models will evolve, and let me tell you, I've got some solid reasons why I love that quote and want to back it up!
Like many fellow travelers peeking through the healthcare service window, my escapades in traditional healthcare have often felt like a rollercoaster of emotions and has been a pretty bumpy ride. I’m sure you’ve got your fair share of stories to tell as well!
For example, I’m totally geeking out over the telehealth tech that's making life (and my kids’) healthcare so much easier for patients! Don’t even get me started on A.I. in healthcare and what that could do!
Now, I get it—bespoke concierge medicine and today’s more contemporary concierge care and membership-driven personal care models (PCMs) can kick off a fiery debate (more so among Physicians!) than Patients, and it can get hotter than a jalapeño ghost pepper in some camps out there!
But guess what? Healthcare professionals like yourself, are finally waking up and smelling the coffee beans, recognizing its true caffeinated potential! I won't dive into the plethora of myths and common misconceptions floating around—especially those from some healthcare folks, because, let's be honest, you probably already know them!
What truly captivates me about bespoke concierge medicine and today’s more contemporary concierge care and membership-driven personal care models (PCMs) is its exceptional presence in the marketing landscape. Unlike conventional healthcare options, it serves as a comforting refuge amid the chaos, offering a unique and personalized approach to patient care. Kind of like finding one of those travel lounges in some out of the way corner of a busy airport! If you know, then you know!
Just recently for example, I stumbled upon a rare gem of a comment on Instagram about a concierge practice that had me chuckling and grinning.
A patient recently raved, “NAME OF PRACTICE [ABC]! OH, I LOVE IT THERE, I ALMOST FELL ASLEEP IT’S SO RELAXING!”
Now that’s the kind of review that warms my heart! Patients are craving that homey vibe (at ALL price points and demographic levels), like chatting with a close friend in their living room. Who wouldn’t want that level of comfort and security from their doctors office?
Fortunately, and unfortunately, the data backs me up on this.
According to the Havas Group Meaningful Brand Study, 74% of customers wouldn’t bat an eye if brands vanished because they feel brands don’t care about them.
And guess what? These feeling hits even harder in healthcare!
Something to think about.
